We NEED YOU!The Oasis depends on volunteers to carry out the mission of the agency. Without volunteers we would not be able to offer our array of activities, programs and services. We believe that everyone has specialized talents, gifts and skills that can be utilized at the Oasis for the betterment of our community. Below is a list of just some of our volunteer opportunities. |
Volunteer Opportunities
Please consider offering your talents in one of the following ways:
Baking for Events: We are needing people to bake for special events, which includes fundraiser dinners, bake sales, and even Tuesday night Bingo.
Benefit Access: Sign people up for discounts on the license plates. We will train you!
Board of Directors: Join the Board of Directors to provide vision to the Oasis.
Crafts: Make and donate crafts to sell in our gifts shop. Floral arrangements, sewing, knitting, etc
Federal & State Tax Preparer: Participate in the tax preparation during tax season. This can be in the form of completing and submitting online, or greeting and making sure a client has all their documents ready for the tax preparer. Extensive training available.
Fundraisers: Join a committee and assist in the planning and execution of various fundraisers and programs.
Instructors: Do you have a skill that you would like to share with others? Let staff know and she will assist in scheduling and arrangements.
Library: Our books need to be shelved quite a few times every month due to donations. Anyone who can spend a little time sorting and shelving would be greatly appreciated
Music: Play the piano during events.
Newsletter: Help with folding, putting stickers on, labels, sorting and putting in trays to be mailed.
S.H.I.P (Senior Health Insurance Program): Take a 4 day course to become certified to help people 65+ sign up for Medicare and Part D.
Social Security Online: Assisting people sign up for social security online.
Tuesday Evening BINGO: You don’t have to know how to play Bingo to volunteer in this area! We are in need of people to run the cash register. We also need volunteers to assist in making Bingo fun and a success. This can be done by greeting players as you check them out with their purchases at the cash register, setting and clean up, floor walkers to verify if a Bingo is valid, and callers! We will provide all the training you will need and mentor you along the way!
Thursday BINGO: Runs from 1:00 PM—2:00 PM. Help the weekly bingo sponsor set up and tear down.
Van Driver: Drive members in the Oasis Van to various trips from tea rooms to concerts. Must have a clean driving record and obtain a JO5 endorsement. It is a lot easier than you think!
Lawn Maintenance: Like to work outdoors? We have many opportunities to do so! From mowing and weed whacking, to the weeding of our flower beds in front and side of our building
Senior Food Pantry: Assist in the unloading of the commodities on the van, sort and put away food items. Assemble food bags for pot luck
Mr/Mrs Fix-It: From time to time the Oasis needs assistance in painting walls, and minor repairs around the building. If this is your talent, we need you!
